Can I Cry Now? :(

Our six year old broke his arm on Tuesday night. :( The day he turned six years old. (What a way to remember turning six!) He was spinning around on the computer chair, and he said he was trying to get off and fell. It was horrible. His arm looked crippled, it was really bent (if you can't tell from the x-ray!)... I still just want to cry, remembering the whole night. I was so heart sick. But also so glad, that we could take him to the doctor (ER) and they could do such a good job fixing it! (I didn't take a picture of the *after* x-ray, but it is as close as you could get.) The one bone went right back together. The second bone is just a hair off. He said he thinks it is because of the hematoma (not sure if I'm spelling that right...) and it will go back when the swelling goes down. I hope!! We have an appointment today with the pediatric orthopedic doctor. I suppose they'll take more x-rays, take the splint off and put a cast on. I hope they won't have to do anything drastic. :( (Like surgery.... they kept mentioning the possibility of surgery while we were in the ER... until after they saw the x-rays and the after x-rays....) He has been SO brave, and so tough; though! I am so surprised. The nurses kept saying (he had two different nurses because of a shift change when we went in) to him, 'You are so brave!'. Then, to me, 'Most kids-- most ADULTS, even-- aren't this brave!' I don't know if it was because he was in shock, or what. After he came out of the sedation (they put him to 'sleep', when they ?? pulled his arm back out straight), he started to freak out a little bit. That was really the only time he cried (he didn't even really cry, just the pouter lip...) except for like two minutes when he first did it! He is such a tough little guy. Our oldest son broke his arm when he was about seven (he was in first grade, so maybe he was still six...) but nowhere near this bad! It was the bone on his elbow, actually. And a hair line fracture. It swelled up and bruised right away. I can't believe it, but his arm hasn't swelled up at all! Maybe because we put ice on it right away? Well. I'll keep you all posted.... :(

Wild Horses.... And Crochet....

Well, I'm still here.... And still crocheting. I was almost finished with the September Challenge at CFAC, baby items... But, yesterday we went for a drive and even though I brought the hat in the picture above to work on.... I ran out of the light blue yarn. AAAARRGGHHH! As you can see, it's finished. (I got some more yarn later.) Well meanwhile we are on a mountain pass, so I started a pair of booties in the same magazine. For the challenge. I am almost done with the second pair. Then I'll have to make a hat to go with them.... (sigh...) When we had to turn around (a gate/'No Trespassing' sign), we decided to go into town nearby and go to WalMart (where I got another skein of yarn to finish this set). It's for my nephew. Who is due a week from Wednesday!!! YIKES!!! I barely finished this in time, eh? I mailed it out Priority this morning. Hopefully it will get there before he is born. (There's also a newborn sweater set in there.) You know how fast they grow. Mine hardly stayed in newborn clothes for even one week. Well, mine were born big, so.... Anyway~~~ I got my 2009 Crochet-Pattern-A-Day Calendar last week, see? :D

I want to make something in there so bad. I don't know what. :( Just something!!

Guess what we saw on our 'drive' yesterday? (Title give you a hint?) Wild horses!! My husband got out of the truck and tried to get closer to it to take a picture. (The original one I took, even zoomed in, was blurry and not very good...) He walked slowly to try and get a better picture. (And I think, to see if he could touch it.... Which, I'm glad he couldn't... It was too wary of him, and kept walking away slowly, the closer he would try to get...)

Isn't he (or she?) cute!? The fur looked kind of ratty like he had been bitten or something.... :(

My husband came back to the truck and got my apple (I brought a couple along with us in case I got hungry.... or the kids did....) He tried to hold the apple out to the horse, to see if it would come to him. But it wouldn't. I wonder what they do eat. There isn't much grass to eat, as you can see... Well maybe it will give the kids and I something to look up for homeschooling. :P It was really cool seeing wild horses. I don't think I have ever seen any. There was a whole pack/herd on the other side of the road, too. Brown ones, and a dark grey/black (?) one. (It was far away...) Well I just thought I'd share that with you all. Have a Great Day! :)

Baby Boy Layette

I finished the whole set. I wasn't sure if I would be able to finish it before the month was over.... but I did. It's going to the OB Unit on Pine Ridge (I think?) When I finish up the sockies and cap I'm knitting. I think that's all I'm going to do. Or be able to do. It's already the 21st. Til next time... :)

Some Cards I Have Made...

Yesterday I was in the mood to make cards. I wanted to make one with a cow on it. But I have absolutely no stamps or anything with cows.... So, I decided to make one with a puppy on it, for our middle son who is sick (well, we all are--except the 16 year old...) He got it the worst, I think. Anyway I made him a Get Well card. :P Nothin' big... Then later on I went online to Google 'Draw a Cow (or cartoon cow). I got all kinds of cute ones. But, we (The five year old and I) made this cow. (If you click on the picture in the right hand corner, that is the one we did...). Well then I cut it out and glued it to a card, with grass like the puppy card, and make a cloud/word bubble saying 'Cow's It Going?' yuk, yuk, yuk.... (Not great pictures..... I guess it must just be me....) :( Anyway I wanted to make the cow card for an RAOK. Do you think it is too 'Childish'? Or should I do a more 'traditional' cow?

Pumpkin Keychain Thingy!!

I like the word 'thingy'. :P I don't know if anyone remembers (or cares to remember-- LOL) the Yo-Yo Keychain Critters I made? Wow that was like almost a year ago.... This morning I was making an orange yo-yo (trying to build up a collection to send to Jana, again), and I said 'No. Way. I am going to make this into a little pumpkin keychain!!' So I did. The pattern is over on my pattern blog. I forgot I put the link to my pattern blog in my sidebar, but it is on the very bottom so I don't know if anyone can really see it down there. :P Well have a good day everyone. I'm going to go lay back down til this flu is gone..... :(

Pumpkin Toilet Paper Cover

Every fall, besides buying a pumpkin and baking with it, I like to crochet pumpkins. Lately, I have been in the mood to crochet toilet paper covers (see last post :P). Well last night I tried to start one on my own. Then today I got the overwhelming urge to crochet a pumpkin (like I do every fall). So I dug out my Pumpkin with Lid pattern from Mimi and started one. Well halfway through it I got a huge brainstorm to make a pumpkin tp cover. I finished the pumpkin by Mimi, then immediately started the tp cover. I have been crocheting almost all day. What do you think? I wrote it all down, I just have to type it all up on the pattern blog. We are going to be gone all weekend so I don't know when I will get to it. Just thought I'd share. Maybe we can get a real pumpkin this weekend, too. :)

Rectangle Granny Babyghan Progress....

I have gotten pretty far on the baby afghan. I am actually surprised, myself. Only six more inches to go. I need more yarn though. See the label laying there, empty? ;P I think that's pretty good that I only have to buy one more skein, for a 'scrap' ghan.... I will have to buy some more blue, too for some booties. So technically I am buying two, but.... Well as you can see, not much excitement here. It is starting to cool down a little. Not much. But enough!! Anything cooler, I will take. I guess my first summer here was hard. They say it takes a couple summers to get used to it. But then other people say you never get used to it, just deal with it.... (Nice.) One thing I miss is the seasons. Mostly Autumn (and Spring). (Definitely don't miss winter, though!) The leaves turning color. I've been trying to find some patterns of leaves to crochet. But not much luck. I did see a coaster pattern book at Annie's Attic. And a really cute scarecrow toilet paper cover. It's on this page of the online catalog. They must be out of stock, when I click on it is says something to that effect.... I saw another really cute scarecrow one at Maggie's Crochet site. Here's a cute snowman one, too. And a cute Red Hat Society one, too! Uh oh, see what happens when I get bored.... Now I want to spend too much money. :P I remember when I first started crocheting, I made my own toilet paper cover for our bathroom. It was white, with dark hunter green and burgundy/mauve. With frilly edges on the bottom. I threw it away a long time ago. I only have one picture of it and it is empty, laying on the back, so I can't really see it anyway.... Well maybe I will just try to make another one soon. With leaves this time. Who knows. ;)

A Couple of Dishcloths

More pictures taken with my phone.... I need to get batteries. Oh well. Just thought I'd post these so you all know I'm still here. :P A couple of dishcloths I have done in the last week and a half for the weekly dishcloth knitalong at Ravelry. The red one is a coffee cup dishcloth. The green variegated is a waffle stitch cloth. I also joined a dishcloth swap at Ravelry, too. Nothing too big, it should be fun. :)

A Baby Rectangle Granny Ghan

I must be crazy, but I started a baby afghan. This will be the second rectangle granny ghan I have made (when it is done, anyway). I gave the first one to my FIL while we were in Michigan. I think he liked it. (I don't remember if I posted that I gave it to him, or not...) I started this just out of the blue one night. Last night, I think.... I took this picture with my phone. My camera is out of batteries and there aren't any extra in the house. Anyway. I am using up all my baby yarn scrap balls that will work. So far, blue, yellow, green and white. I will have to go get some more 'scraps', I think.... :P This is going to be part of a layette for the September Challenge at CFAC, which is baby things. I already have the sweater and hat done. I was going to give it to my sister but I started another sweater for this challenge, that turned out to be about a 3-6 motnh size. Since I already have one newborn set done to send my sister, I will send this other one (I haven't posted about it yet) to her.... I just have to do some booties to go with it. I'll post a picture of the whole set when it is all done. So far this is 12" wide, so I'm about 1/3 of the way done. :)

Go Ahead, Slap Me.... I Can Take It....

But just this once. :P I have been doing anything and everything but what I am supposed to be doing. I know *why*, finally; though... I am always joining CALs and KALs for Crafting for a Cause. There has been a challenge each month, so I always join... This baby set is the September CAL/challenge. Baby things. THEN... I went and joined a weekly dishcloth KAL at Ravelry! I couldn't resist. The dishcloth last week was the 9 patch dishcloth.

My Very First Shawl Is Done!

Actually, it is the second shawl I started, but it is the first one finished.... And, technically, it might be called a "stole"? Anyway~ It's done. I started this thing in April of '07~ yikes... Shows you how bad I am at finishing things. Which is why I am being so hard on myself to get things done before I start any new ones.

Sorry 'bout the bikes in the background.... The best place to get pictures for light is outside. And there's no way I'm standing in the front yard with all the neighbors "What is she doing?" lol :P Anyway~~ It is this pattern , one that Mimi did, too! (Now we have "matching" shawls, Mimi! :P) Except mine is not in thread, but Jamie baby pompadour yarn since I had a lot. I still think it will be okay.....

Here's a picture of it so you can *kind* of see it better... The edging and all.... I blocked it last night, but I can see it is going to go back to the way it was anyway even after blocking.... Oh well.

I have another shawl I want to finish (this one was started even before the spiderweb one...) I just need to dig it out and finish it. :) That's three things I can cross of my WIP pile list now. YAY!!!

Some More FO's

Yay.... This is a baby set for my (not yet born) nephew, Corbin. I have been working on this off and on and it is FINALLY, completely, absolutely, finished. The baby shower(s) were this weekend. But, seeing as how they are over 2,000 miles away, I guess I didn't go. :( So I had to post one of the things I am going to send. The other sweater set, here. And a few odds and ends things, I have a couple cute T-Shirts I want to get and I will see if there is anything still on their gift registry list. Plus, we are going in on a camcorder with my other sister and my Mom. And that is two things on my list I am totally done with (both sweater sets) and can cross off. :)

I cheated and made these. Holly's Pink Bunny Slippers. They have been done for a while, I just now took a picture of them. I will send them to PR this fall, hopefully with a few more pairs. If it cools off here I might get back into slipper making mode. I shouldn't, though; seeing as how I need to finish up all my WIPs I already have going..... I should get them all out and pick which one I want to finish. I'm sure there is enough to choose from.... (Insert rolling eyes winking smiley here....) Anyway. That's all for now. Yummy Food Post... :P

I was looking at someones' blog (Crafty Christina) via Crochetville the other day after seeing her post about a hat she made... Well I found a recipe for a yummy Tomato Mozzarella Sandwich on her blog. OH MY GOODNESS, it is yummy!! I had to improvise, because I didn't have Kaiser Rolls, or mozzarella.... Soooo.... I used an English muffin and cheddar cheese. :P It was still yummy!! I also sprinkled red pepper seasoning and some parmesan and garlic salt with (even more) parmesan... My oldest son said 'What are you making?' So now he is making one, too. Thanks Christina, for the recipe!! We love it, too. :D Update: Now the 11 year old wants one, too. (He is a 'non meat eating, but gourmet food loving aka impossibly picky eater'....) :P Yummy....

This is something else my son made. He makes a lot of cookies. The other day (actually it was just yesterday), he said 'I want to make some of those puffy cookies like you buy in the store'. I said, 'You mean like the kind Grandma Ortman makes?' well, not exactly... so I googled 'meringue cookies' and found a few.... My husband didn't like them. I thought they were okay. (Kinda salty... I don't know if it was the recipe, or if he added too much by using the wrong teaspoon measurements....) Anyway the kids like them so they are almost gone- if not gone already....

I finished the I-cord for both booties, they are completely done. I did a guage swatch for the hat- it was too big, so I have to try and find some (or buy some) size 5 knitting needles. I have one. But I have no idea where the other one is.... (sigh....) Story of my life. It is probably buried in a bag or in one of my big rubbermaid tubs.... Well that's all for now. Another Backpack Finished

This one was for the KAL... It is the Preschooler's Backpack. I was switching back and forth between the two (CAL and KAL)~~ finish one, start another.... So all together I did two projects for each -AL... :P I think I am done now. There's only 9 more days left in August, and I just got the Gwendolyn doll pattern, soooo...... I should work on that, so I can pass it on as soon as I can. :) So much for finishing up my WIPs.... Although I am working on them in between...

My husbands' finger is healing up pretty good. He took the stitches out himself (MEN!!). I thought it would look a lot worse. But it looks pretty good, considering. He didn't want to go back to sit there (with an appointment!!) and wait two hours just to have them take the stitches out. Ugh. I can't blame him. (We all sat there with him, the last time... thank goodness there was a tv and AFV was on :P or the kids would have been complaining to no end...) He has already got the papers okaying him going back to normal work, sooo.... Now he can hurt himself all over again. (I hope not!!)

CAL Backpack is Finished

I don't hardly believe it myself. When I first started this backpack, I thought I would never finish this thing!! But, here it is~ Done. :) It is the Bernat Camo Backpack. I have never crocheted (or knitted) a backpack before. I used 'Aspen Print' by Red Heart. I had two skeins, and had to go get one more to finish the second strap and the drawstring. I debated whether to go get grommets/eyelets to put into the holes for the drawstring. I ended up not doing it as money is super tight right now. I think it still looks fine without them.

And, since I didn't have my five year old to model it for me, here is the straps... (I technically have him right here, but he didn't want to model it....) ;)

I have been knitting I-cord to finish up a set for my nephew who is due the first of October. Then I have to make a hat to finish the set (I finally found the pattern, looooooong story short, that I wanted to use... of course, while looking for something else...) :)

Another Pencil Pouch... And Stitches~ I'm not talking needlework... :(

(*First off I want to say if stitches gross you out, don't look at the second picture in this post.... :)*) This is another pencil pouch I finished for the August Challenge KAL (the last one was for the CAL) It is from the Lion Brand site. (You'll probably have to sign in...) I like how this looks, but man it was a lot of ends to weave in! The pattern said to resist the temptation to work over the ends well I did for the most part except the very first stitch, and it did look warped compared to the other side which was completely straight. Anyway there it is. Now I am trying to finish up a backpack (crocheted). I said I was going to knit one more thing, but I don't know... I guess I committed to it. Maybe I can do something small. I am next in line to do the Gwendolyn doll, though. It should be in the mail right now. Arrrrgh!! Too many pressures to finish too many things all at once.

Okay, if you came this far, then I guess stitches don't gross you out. (Just thought I would give you fair warning...) My husband smashed his finger at work the other day. :( He called me from the doctor. I thought he was just calling me on his way home, he was so calm like nothing was wrong.... Then he said 'Guess where I am?' 'In the driveway? I don't know...' 'At the doctors' 'What happened?' Fortunately nothing worse than this:

He was fortunate it wasn't a lot worse. No broken bones or ligaments/tendons. It is pretty swollen and bruised though. He had five stitches. :( It looks like a "J" doesn't it? My friend said he should have gotten a "T" hee hee.... (First initial of my name...) He is on antibiotics since it was filled with dirt and stuff in the cut. (I won't go into details about that...) I'm glad he didn't hurt himself worse than this. I worry about him hurting himself bad every day. It's on his right hand, so that's good; I guess. (He's left handed...) Well that's all for now folks. Stuff....

Good Morning everyone. Well I am trying to talk myself into a good day here.... :/ I woke up with a headache. Not good. Need to find the Tylenol... Anyway. Here are some muffins I made a while ago. They didn't even last 24 hours. You'd think there wasn't any other food in the house. lol I used to make muffins ALL the time. At least once a week. Mostly mini muffins, for the kids to take in their lunches (made with mini-chocolate chips). After a while they started complaining. I guess you do get sick of them after having them all the time. My favorite ones to make (and the ones I made here): Banana Chocolate Chip (I add raisins, too) muffins. I make other kinds, too. I have about thirty bananas in my freezer, though. (Did you know you can freeze bananas til you are ready to bake with them? A 'tightwad' tip I read somewhere...) Well, that's why I have so many bananas in my freezer folks. A whole shelf, just bananas. Yikes. :P

And here we have one last toy I finished up for KristieMN's toy drive. This is the 'Geometric Baby' from the 'Big Book of Crochet' I got from a secret pal in one of the very first secret pal swaps I did. The body was super easy. The arms and legs are kind of a pain. But I forced myself to finish it. And I think it is pretty cute. It looks happy, anyway. Maybe it will make some little kid a little bit happier while they are in the hospital. :(

And, this is also for a child.... :) A pencil pouch I finished for the August CAL at Crafting for a Cause. I used the School Binder Pencil Pouch pattern. Then, I used these letters and sewed them on. Kids love personalized things. I'll put a few school supplies in this (and maybe buy a binder, too; to put it in...) I might also do a backpack for the CAL, but meanwhile, I also signed up for the KAL. I'm making this pencil pouch. (It's a lionbrand site so you might have to sign in). I'm on the second side. I have been knitting at night while watching Nancy Grace. I need to stop watching those shows..... :( I hope they will find that little girl alive, but it doesn't look hopeful.... :((

Some crochet stuff....

Woops. I forgot to change the photo size here... oh well I'll just go with it. This is a flower tawashi that I have recently finished. It is Mimi's pattern, and can be found at her Ravelry Pattern Store. I love this little scrubby. It is too pretty to use to scrub greasy grimy dishes with, though!! Maybe I will have to give it away as a gift... (Then I won't see it being used for this... ;P) The roosters are actually salt and pepper shakers I got at Ross for $1.48. I wanted them anyway since my kitchen is roosters and apples. Then it was a big bonus that they are so cheap!! I won't be using them as salt and pepper shakers, though. With three boys in the house they are bound to get broken. So they will be decorations. :)

And, here we have all but one of the toys for KristieMN's toy drive this year. Three of yarncat's turtles, KristieMN's sea monster I tested a while back. One of my love bugs. One 'Geometric Baby' which is not yet finished. (But almost.) And three Happy Meal toys from our trip to Michigan. I get a Happy Meal since it is about half the calories (or less) than say a cheeseburger meal or a Big Mac.... I try not to eat at McDonald's at all, but if we are on the road like that it is kinda hard. And even harder to eat a salad while you are driving, so.... Happy Meal it is. Anyway. Speaking of food.... I have been craving bread BIG time lately. What's up with that? I haven't been eating bread for a long time. LONG time. (Long story, too, why I haven't been eating bread.... basically, because it makes my stomach hurt [wheat, I think]) So I don't know why all of a sudden I am craving it so bad. Maybe cuz I was eating it while we were in Michigan. But, I don't just want the junky sliced bread you can buy in the store. I want crusty French bread with butter. YUM. Or cheesy flatbread. Yum yum..... :P

In other news.... My husband's job was shut down today. :0 (I had to edit this and say: The job my husband works on-- it's not *his* job. It was bugging me... lol) Sooooo.... I (we) don't know what is going to happen with that. Yikes. On the one hand, I am kind of hoping he will get transferred somewhere. I HATE it here. It has been 7 months and I still hate it. I don't think I am going to all of a sudden start liking it. Anyway. I doubt I will be that lucky. He will probably just go to a different company (again) and a different job.... I thought now was as good a time as ever to suggest that he get a transfer somewhere though. Like Michigan. Or Tennessee.... (Closer to my family...) I know Michigan is THE worst place to be right now for the economy. (I would also most definitely have to go back to work again, too.) But. :( We will see. Just trying not to think about it too much though. If he gets another job here we will be stuck here even longer. I don't know.... live where you hate it, and be financially okay. Or live where you WANT to live, and struggle. It is a no good situation either way...

My husband took our five year old to see WallE. (Hopefully that's what they'll see...) A couple weeks ago the two older kids went with their Uncle (and Aunt) to see the Dark Knight (batman). We *thought* the five year old had chicken pox. (Turns out after a couple weeks and phone call to the doctor explaining every single detail.... it is probably 'Swimmer's Itch'. No thanks to the doctor[not even the doctor, I talked with a nurse] for figuring THAT out, we figured it out on our own....) Anyway so he *couldn't* go to see the movie (I heard later it was WAY violent, anyway so maybe it worked out better that way.) But my husband said when we get back he would take him (JUST him) to see a movie all by himself. :P Well have a good day everyone. TTYS :)

Wow Has It Been Over a Month?! :0

I don't believe it.... :P Well I have been gone for a couple weeks. And then my Mom was here for a week. So, I have been busy. I haven't even crocheted much in the past month at all~~ That's how busy I have been! :0 Well, I got a very nice package while I was gone. I hardly ever get anything in the mail, so I was surprised when my husband said, 'You got a package'. I asked him who it was from. He said he didn't know (it must have been downstairs, he must have been upstairs... :P). He said 'Do you want me to open it?' :0!!!! 'No,' I said, 'I want to be surprised'.... :D Well I was so surprised when I finally got home and did open it!! I don't know if the person who sent it to me wants her name mentioned here or not, but I can show you what she sent me!! I love it!!: A pretty pink envelope inside the mailing envelope. Inside it were a bunch of 'yummy goodies' (none technically edible, but... :P A rolled up papyrus (?) paper, tied with twine (cool!!) and inside it was a beautiful doily (her own pattern, too!) she made~~ I love it and will have to find a special place for this one. A postcard of a local airport (cool-- I like postcards!!) And a pink satiny pouch. Inside it was a tiny bottle of perfume (photo below-- it's been so long since I posted I must have forgotten how to do the photos....) :P She also sent me the coolest t-shirt (I have already worn it twice, today being the second day).... Here's a picture of me wearing it (see how good it fits!) I meant to have my head not in the picture (not a good hair day) but oh well.... (The sun was blinding me, too). It says, 'Old School', which is totally me. I like to do things the 'old-fashioned' way. I have to ask my kids how to do everything. (I am 'getting there', though...) And here is the lovely little bottle of perfume. I love the scent, I don't wear perfume much, but when I do, I love this scent!!

I love this one, the color is perfect for me!! I wanted to make one I could put on the OUTSIDE of my purse, because I can never find my phone buried inside this tiny purse all the time. (Not to self: don't buy small purses no matter how cute they are.... the plan to not carry so much stuff in your purse never works....) :P Well I looped the little strap around the purse strap, and then put the phone through it so it could be on the outside, I LOVE it!! Thanks SO much, my friend from far away. I love it all. :)

For some reason I kept thinking about pancakes while I made those.... ;P Every time we (me or my husband) makes pancakes we make Mickey Mouse ones for the kids. My Mom was here for a week. I took her to the airport this morning. Can you say STRESS? :( I have never driven to the airport here myself (it is aninternational airport and bigger than any airport I have ever been to in my LIFE... ) I did go to this airport once, but my husband was driving, so I didn't pay attention; or care. I am surprised I didn't get hit. People should NOT tailgate people in the airport. (Grrrrrr...) Getting into the parking structure was the hard part. Getting around inside was pretty easy, and leaving was super easy. I even got kind of lost and still found my way home. Not bad for a newbie. I am going to miss my Mom, but maybe we will see each other again soon. I don't know how, but... you never know what might happen.

Well that's all for now. Maybe I'll have some more to post soon. I am in a slump, I guess. I have been trying to be good still, and not start anything new. Well I also don't want to finish any of my old projects.... so what am I to do? Bake? :P Well TTYL everyone~ have a nice day. ;)

Lamb Sweater Progress....

I finished the front!! I am a LOT more pleased with how this looks. I can tell it is pulling in a little on the right. But I think it looks kinda cute, like it is supposed to look like that, maybe? (I am talking about the lamb, by the lamb's head...) I have to give it eyes and ears still. But I wanted to post what I have so far.

And the back. Which has been done forever. But I took another picture so I didn't have to search for it in my photobucket album... These will have to be blocked. I have never blocked anything other than a doily. I will have to see if there is any special thing(s) I am supposed to do...

I have also cast on for one sleeve. I wanted to do both together to save time. But. I only have one ball each of the blue and green. And I figured by the time I split them both up and all it would probably take as much time as just doing them separate.... :P One of my old clients (aka~ someone I used to clean house for :P) told me how to do both sleeves on one needle. I remember looking at her like, 'What are you talking about?' I seriously did not get what she was saying. But after she explained, 'you cast on separately, but on the same needle' I was like, 'Cool!!!!' Hee hee. I was really new in knitting then, so don't be too hard on me... ;) (She probably thought I was a total wacko....) :P (Actually, she was a really nice lady-- kind of like a Grandmother to me.)

Anyway~~ This and my CPH are the only things I am 'allowing' myself to work on. I think I will be finishing this first, as I want to give it to my sister when I go to Michigan and that is coming up soon, here. Have a GREAT DAY, everyone! :)

An Old WIP Made New Again...

Remember this sweater? I must have really been digusted. I haven't worked on it for three years! I have thought about just throwing it away at times. (In one post I said I wanted to take my scissors to it!) But I didn't. It has just been sitting there, collecting dust. (Well, the bag it was in was collecting dust...) I don't know why, but last night I was looking through all my FCEK magazines. I started out looking for scrap yarn knitting projects. (I was being bad, because I probably would have started a new project if I found something I liked!) Well then I started looking for baby sweaters to make for my nephew to be. I remembered the little fishy sweater I made our son before he was born. (I never took a picture of it, it was pre-internet, pre-digital camera, and pre-blog days...) Well actually I did take a picture of it. I suppose I could get it put onto a disk someday.... Then I saw a tractor sweater I could make. Then I *remembered* the sweater I practically have half way done, but stopped because it was so frustrating. Well I dug it out and sat there and ripped out row after row. I tried looking for a fluffy white yarn I could substitute from my stash. (I didn't find anything...) Then I decided to just double the yarn I have been using. This is the result. I think it looks a lot better. It is a *little* bit pulling in on the right side, but I am okay with it. It is a LOT better than the way it was. I hope the rest will turn out okay. This is not the best picture; but you can still kind of tell, no? And, I didn't *technically* cheat on my WIP pile thing I have been trying to get a handle on. This IS an old WIP, in fact, one of THE oldest. So no guilt there. Yay! I guess it definitely won't fit our youngest son (since he is in a 5/6 now!!) But it will definitely fit my nephew, who is not even born yet. :P (That is, if I finish it... which, I definitely think I will, now that I am doing it a lot better...)

I have been working on another WIP, too. The Central Park Hoodie. I finished the left front!! Yay!! I typed in Central Park Hoodie at Ravelry and :0!!! There was over a thousand of them. (That motivated me to get mine out and work on it...)

If I keep on working on it it will be done soon. I hope it will fit. I have been reading through the posts at Ravelry, and noticed that a few people have said this pattern runs small. And, I am making the size that will just fit me. So.... we will see.

I have also been on a quest to find the knitted version of the Baby Hexagon sweater. Well... (I should have known!) Elizabeth Zimmerman created the Baby Surprise Sweater in 1968. Someone posted about it in my thread at Crochetville. I asked her for more information and she posted this!! I thought at first that it was the pattern for it, but it's not... But, if you go all the way to the end of the page, it does tell you where to find the pattern. That sent me on another quest to find it. I went to ebay and found one of the Knitter's magazines it is in. And a few of the books, but there was already bidding on them.... Soooo.... I bought a 'Buy It Now' one. (The Opinionated Knitter.) I thought I would rather have the book than just a magazine... Well I also found a link (on Ravelry) where you can buy just the sweater pattern from Schoolhouse Press. (Which, I did. But, I still wanted the book, too.) The Baby Surprise Sweater (on that page I linked to) is 1B. It came in the mail today. (I SO badly want to start one, but... I am being good.) Really, I actually don't want to start one right now. I am getting too much things going on, and it's really starting to get to me. So I want to finish them, first. One thing I noticed was, I paid $2.50 for shipping, and on the envelope it said $0.42? What's up with that? It was just like two pieces of paper. If I was to mail that myself, it would only cost one stamp. Hmmmm. Oh well. Anyway, back to the Crochetville thread.... Someone else also posted (in a different thread, that I found-- I don't know how...) a similar knitted sweater (not exactly the same, but somewhat similar) pattern online, too. Well stay tuned for some FO's soon, hopefully!

Another Hexagon Baby Sweater

And another WIP to cross off my list. (I decided to not do the booties for either set...) It will make my stress load a lot lighter as far as that goes.... This one, I *think* I did in an F hook and fingering weight yarn. I wrote it down somewhere (sigh)... Anyway it is a true newborn size. I don't think it would have fit any of *my* newborns, as big as they were... But. The hat is the trusty old FCEC magazine (Fall 2006) hat I have done with a lot of sweaters. I am going to save this set for my sister and her husband since they're having a boy. Hopefully it isn't as big as mine were! (I got my big baby gene from my paternal grandmother..... and, we have different dads...)

"Spots"~ The Spotted Puppy :P

Well I was doing okay, trying to get caught up on all my WIPs (they are getting out of control, even for me...) Then I saw Alisha's Fen the Spotted Puppy. Our youngest son has been wanting me to make him a dog ( 'A pink Schnauzer' even though when he says it, it sounds more like 'A pink Shawzer'...) :P Well I saw Alisha's puppy (even I thought it was cute!), and showed it to him. He said (and I knew he would) 'Can you make me one of those!?' ('Just like that one?') So I asked to be a tester and Alisha said yes.... Well. You can see the rest. ;) I think I am done making him toys. (THAT is getting out of hand, too... I should line up all the toys I have crocheted just for him, and take a picture....)

Here It Is With a Hat...

The hat I used is the Granny Skull Cap. I used a G hook and the same baby yarn. I hope it will fit. The hat barely measured to 7 inches wide, the sweater measured to about a 24 month wide (!!!) and only 6 month sleeves? So, I pulled it in a little with buttons and snaps to be a little more narrow. Anyway thought I'd post the whole set... :P
