Today's The Day...

I don't believe it... But somehow I managed to finish something!! Eons' puppy. :P   It didn't turn out as cute as I thought (remembered them to be). But he likes it. He even made it a little dog house. :P  (He named it Fudge.)  I had to make the nose a non-official dog nose color. Since the dog was black. And black eyes wouldn't show up very well on him, either. So I used googly eyes. The pattern is in "Crafting Traditions", an out of print crafting magazine.

Look what I got in the mail a couple days ago! It was Mail Day for me, I got this; and three letters! One was from Mimi. ;)  This is a Friendship Square~ from supermom.  :D  I was really suprised; since I haven't even been on that thread in forever.  I thought, maybe this is just what I need right now, to get back into making Friendship Squares..

I got all my squares out that I have recieved so far. Some of them were already edged, and I edged a couple more.  I had to get Jetta in the picture, too. :P   It's a little blurry, sorry..   This picture was taken in my "new" craft room.  Yup, I now have a craft room (once again..)  It has been about 15 years since I've had one. (Before our second son was born, and we only had a 3 bedroom house.)  Well now we have a four "bedroom" house. But one of the "bedrooms" is really an office/extra room.  That was the 8 year olds' bedroom (which he never slept in~ long story).  Well our 19 year old moved out last month. Just out of nowhere.   So, you can see why I am not overly excited to have a craft room again.  :/    I also have all three hamsters in "my" room. :/  (They ARE a pain to sleep with, as they are nocturnal creatures..)  I don't really mind.  I'm the one who takes care of them 90% of the time, anyway.  On a funny side note, that is why Jetta is sitting there, not moving. Because Eon had one of the hamsters out of it's cage. (She is afraid of them! I think it's so funny..)  She is still really just a puppy, though..  She'll be five months old next week. :D   A couple days ago, Steve was playing with her on the floor, and he picked something up and said "What's this? Jetta lost one of her claws." I smiled and said "Or one of her baby teeth?"  ;P   I guess this isn't her first one. I looked at the other side of her mouth; and same tooth, other side, she has one coming in there. No wonder she has been so whiny. She's teething! I've been giving her lots of ice cubes...  :)

You are probably wondering, "What does 'Today's The Day' have anything to do with anything she has posted so far?"; by now....   Well this is it.  My husband is replacing the head (and a gasket) on his truck, today.  He has been working on it a lot, lately. (He would be so mad if he knew I posted this on here... :P)   He had to take everything out of his engine. He was starting to put some things back in and realized the gasket was bad, too.  I know absolutely nothing about cars/trucks/fixing them, so..  My husband tries to show me stuff & explain it, but I just tell him, "I had to go down to a G hook, because the one I was using wasn't getting the right guage"...  :P   (In other words, I might as well tell you about crocheting or knitting, because I don't know anything you are saying about trucks!!!...)  :P

I was fortunate enough to get the summer issue of Interweave Crochet, yesterday! I want to make the cover tank (The Grove Park Tank~ "Cover Tank" sounds kinda weird, lol..)      I would have to order some of that yarn though. Sigh... I hate that. :(  There is a bag in there that I like, the (?) Polka Dot bag..    Not like I NEED another project...  (Sigh..)  I should just stop buying and looking at new patterns..             Well I hope everyone is staying cool (wildfires in Arizona) and dry, if you are having flooding...   Crazy weather! It was 110 here yesterday. I think we broke a record. Maybe not..   It's supposed to be in the triple digits for the next few days. (Why don't they just say the next few months?...  Here we go~ Summer in the Mojave Desert~ Ugh...)  My fourth summer here, and I'm still not used to this heat.   Anyway~~ Have a Great Day, everyone! <3

Not Enough Time In a Day...

Our middle schooler had his Awards Assembly on Monday. He got two awards! He got his First Year Letter (he would have maybe gotten his third year letter, but this is the first year he has gone to this school..). And, he got a Presidential Achievement Award!  Way to go, Eli!! I'm so proud of you. :D   (I had to twist his arm/beg him to let me take this picture..)

Later, the same day; I got an award, too. I had gotten the invitation for this assembly about a week ago. For all my volunteering I do... :)

Eon was feeling left out and "sad, because he didn't get an award". (I was surprised he didn't get one, usually he does!) So...  I made him an award, too; yesterday. Just drew a paw print, and markers/colored pencils. :P I think he loved it. He had the biggest smile on his face when I gave it to him.  :)

He may not have gotten an "official" award, but he DID get all his Sight Word Tags! (I am SOOO proud of him for getting all of them!!)   Last Friday was the last day for Sight Word Tag Testing; and so I really crammed with him, and he passed. (I was the only one who was testing that day, so I had to test him. But I didn't cheat/let him pass.. I think I am actually even harder on him than I am the other students.)

I made these for his classroom party for tomorrow (last day of school~ YAY!!!!) They are "Strawberry Mice".  I wanted to make something other than cupcakes/cookies/sugary junk. So I circled "Fruit/Vegetable" on the form; and went on to Family Fun dot com to see what I could find to make...  I saw these and knew right away I wanted to make them.

Look at that cute face!!!    I can't get over how cute they are. I hope the kids will like them.  I got three containers of strawberries at Walmart.  I had to really dig to find enough for his classroom. Some were totally moldy. The rest were smushy, and not good enough to serve. I wouldn't even make jam with them.   So, I found the receipt and returned two containers. What a pain. Yesterday my husband opened the fridge and said "What's that smell?"  (He has a nose like a  Hound.. lol)  The pork chops we JUST bought smelled horrible, and were slimy! (From Walmart... Again..)  I am getting so sick of them (Walmart, that is...).  He threw the pork chops away. I meant to tell them about them (like it would do any good); even though I couldn't return them~ I did want to complain..  Speaking of complaining...  Did I mention how my whole day has been going? I dropped my son off at school & he wanted me to go in to ask his teacher something (ugh..). So then on my way out, I notice my tire is totally flat. Ugh! I WAS going to go to the bank after I dropped my son off, since it's right around the corner, but noooooo..... I have to go all the way half way back home to the gas station, to put gas in my tire. I didn't have any quarters, so I had to go in to get change (from the money I was going to deposit in the bank-good thing I hadn't made out the deposit slip yet). I walk in to a wall of cigarette smoke. UGH!! I hate these casinos in the gas station where people can smoke. Now I'm getting irritated. FINALLY get four quarters (who knew it was so hard to just get change for a dollar? Sheesh...). Put air in the tire. Go to the bank. Get my checkbook out that I went back in and grabbed early this morning for a deposit slip. No deposit slips. Ugh.....  0.o  Get one, where's the account number? Oh, yeah...   Finished at the bank.  Got home then had to do all that stuff with the strawberries (and make all the food) I just mentioned.  Clean up puppy pee, even though she has been outside all morning while I was making stuff, and I took her out THREE times amidst the chaos of trying to get ready for school.  This whole day has been a two steps forward, one step back kinda day.

Anyway~ Back to FUN stuff...  :P

Besides the Strawberry Mice, I also made "Ants on a Log".  :P  It's just celery sticks, with peanut butter and raisins. I got this idea from when I used to take our kids to a friends' house in Colorado, to "Preschool Day".  Someone brought these for lunch.   My kids are all older now, but they all still eat every single one of these, every time I make them.

I wanted to crochet the Lion Brand Site's Graduation Teddy Bear, and a Graduation Dog (a pattern I have had for a dog, just going to add a graduation cap to it); for our two boys... Our 8th grader is "graduating" middle school this year. And the 8 year old will feel left out, if I don't make him something, too.  I don't know why I put it off until the last week of school, to get started on them???.... I guess I thought I wouldn't have anything to do all week, and could just stay home and crochet. (Sigh...)  Between that and forgetting I was going to, and getting sidetracked...  I did get them both started. Oh well.   :P  Maybe I will stay up all night tomorrow night and finish them. (Ha ha...)   I have a lot to blog about, just not enough time to do it..  Gotta get dinner started. Have a great weekend. :D

Just For Something To Blog About...

I have been working on my Pressed Flowers Afghan a lot, lately. I was working on my other one (can't think of the name of it, right now). But ran out of the color I was doing one row on. So I picked this one up, and have been working on it ever since.  I think it will be done way before winter gets here. I'm sending it to a 13 year old girl I send things to on Pine Ridge Indian Reservation. (The other afghan I am working on is for her Grandma, whom she lives with..)  This one is 3/4 of the way done, already. I like doing this pattern.  This one isn't the greatest. But I still kinda like it. I've been thinking about doing a rectangle granny one, for my 19 year old. Out of scraps.  I've been working on an Aqua Chevron Lace Cardigan, too.
I have been on the lookout for the Interweave Crochet Summer issue. I can't find it anywhere. Oh well... I guess I'll find one sooner or later. :)   I sent a picture of my Forest Flower Pullover I finished to them. I don't know if they will use it in the magazine or not. I vaguely recall reading something (I don't remember if it was online or in their magazine) about if they use your photo you will be entered into a drawing to win a years subscription to their magazine. (I read it after I had already sent my picture in.) It would be neat to win, though. :D

Apple or Rhubarb Rumble (Recipe)

I found the recipe for Rhubarb Rumble (I was right, you could use apples, too; for this recipe.. I can't believe I remembered that. :P)  So here it is, Paula. :)  I don't know where the recipe came from; a cookbook probably. I know I got it from my Mom. :)

Apple or Rhubarb Rumble

1 cup flour
1 cup brown sugar
3/4 cup rolled oats
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 cup melted butter
4 cups diced rhubarb/apple
1 cup sugar
1 cup water
2 Tbsp cornstarch
1 tsp vanilla

Combine flour, brown sugar, oats, cinnamon and melted butter. Press half of the mixture into a greased 8" square baking pan and cover with rhubarb (or apples- or half and half?). Reserve remaining flour mixture. Combine sugar, water, cornstarch, and vanilla in a medium saucepan over moderate heat (medium). Cook, stirring constantly until thick. Pour over rhubarb and sprinkle with remaining flour mixture. Bake in a preheated 350* oven for one hour.
(Apples or cherries may be substituted for the rhubarb)

Rhubarb Pie

After seeing Tammy's Rhubarb Pie  ~made with her very own rhubarb!! I'm so jealous... ;)  I had to find some rhubarb!! I LOVE rhubarb. I always use to stop at this farm on the way to my Grandmother-In-Law's house, to buy rhubarb. (When we had any money). I usually made Rhubarb Rumble (with the oatmeal/brown sugar topping). I have never made a pie. But, like I already said, after seeing Tammy's...  I had to have one. I finally found some rhubarb in the freezer section at Smith's. It was expensive ($2.89 a bag!), but... I had to have it.    I had enough to make two pies. The other one is still in the oven.  When I was googling "Rhubarb Pie", for recipes, I found this video of a song about Rhubarb Pie~ How cool is that?! I love it.  This song is dedicated to Tammy, thank you for posting about your pie Tammy! ;P  (I guess it will have to be in a separate post...  Still not sure how to post a video.)  :)
Have a Great Day, everyone.  :)

Roses... In Remembrance

I thought I would post some pictures of our rose bushes..  :)  This one has the biggest, coral colored roses. They are so pretty. And they smell amazing.

This one doesn't have the prettiest roses. But look at the yellow rose, in the lower middle of the picture. Our kids found it, shortly after Portia was hit by a car. I said, "It's a rose for Portia."  :(  After that, we found a second yellow rose. I never thought to cut them to put in a vase. They were pretty hard to get to, though...

Today is the one month anniversary of the day Portia was hit.  It's also the two year anniversary of my Grandmother's death.

Me and my Grandma. <3 This was taken about four years ago.  I miss her a lot.

Here are some of the roses I cut and put into a vase. I think I have gotten about four or five "bouquets" so far. Too bad this isn't a "scratch n' sniff".  :)

Here's one my husband picked & put in a Coors Light bottle. :/ (lol)   I cut some yesterday & put them in a vase. I think that's about the last of them. They're all not looking so good now. We enjoyed them while they lasted, though!

I Started Another Afghan.. Yes, I'm Insane

I started this yesterday (I think?). Close enough. It's the Eye-Dazzler Afghan from Annie's Scrap Crochet Club. I made one of these before. Let's hope this one doesn't take me that long! I don't think it will..

I got Jetta some Frosty Paws Frozen Treats the other night when I got the kids ice cream (so she wouldn't feel left out ;P).  She loves them. She ate it all.         She looks kinda funny here.. Her ears are plastered to her head. She's so cute when her ears are up. Today she was being hilarious. I had her on her tie out chain, and there was a cockroach squirming around on the pavement. She was just laying there watching it. Then all of a sudden she bared her teeth and tried to bite it. She was being so cute. She was acting like a dork. But I think she was having fun. It was so cute to watch. (I guess you just had to see it....)  I need to figure out how to do a video on my camera. But by the time I went in, got my camera, got it ready... She wouldn't be doing it anymore.  Oh well.

Giving the Dog a Bone...

I don't know why, but I couldn't get that song out of my head the whole time I was crocheting this bone for our puppy. (Maybe because that's all our 14 year old wants to listen to, is ACDC?... :P)   Anyway. I had been wanting to crochet a toy for Jetta, ever since we got her. But I noticed that she doesn't like balls at all. Last night I looked on Ravelry for other dog toys, and saw lots of dog bones. But the link for the bone everyone seemed to have made, doesn't work.. So I went to crochetpatterncentral and found a Dog-Gone Dog Bone that I liked. :p

Jetta seems to like it, too.  It took me all morning to make, and within less than five minutes, she was tearing the stuffing out of it. (Sheesh. I kinda expected that, though~ She tears the stuffing out of the blanket we put in her kennel..)   I started it this morning and finished it right about noon. I don't feel so good today, so I'm just sitting around crocheting. And blogging..  :P  I used Aran Fleck, that I had in my stash.     I want to make another one, for my brother's dog. He's neurotic, and loves to chew things. :P

Chevron Lace Cardigan is Done

I finished it yesterday. :D  I started it March 14th, and got to row 15. Then I put it away for a while. (I wasn't quite sure how/was afraid, to do the sleeves). Well I picked it back up yesterday; determined to figure out the sleeves~ and finished it. So, it would have only taken me two days, and not two months, to finish it.  Oh well. Two months is still good, for me...  :P
I wanted a simple (but nice!) sweater to wear over summer clothes to church; because they keep it like an ice box in there; if it gets above 60 degrees outside, it seems. Plus the fans are going all the time. And I always freeze.       I have more clothes than I thought, that this sweater will go with. I wanted to do a white one, but I didn't have any white yarn. I had a whole pound of love from my Forest Flower Pullover left. So... this will work for a lot, too. (Yay!)  I am definitely going to be doing more of these. I'm so happy, it fits (I didn't think it was going to), and it's so comfy. :)   If I could just lose a little weight...  :/   This isn't the best picture of me, either. My husband was taking the pictures and they kept coming out blurry (my camera is so sensitive, I hate it..). This was the best of all the ones he took. :/

A picture of it on a hanger. The right sleeve looks longer than the other one in this but it isn't. They are both 17 rows long. I had to do some figuring for the sleeves.  I wrote down all my "notes", for future reference. I don't know if they would make any sense to anyone else, though.. :P

On my bed. There is a bit of a hole in the underarms. I was going to sew them up some. But I don't want it to be any tighter than it is. I doubt anyone is going to be lifting my arm to see my armpits, anyway. ;P  Hee hee.

And, on the couch..   I'm going to wear it today.

And here is where Jetta was, the whole time I was working on my sweater. In her little corner.  :P

This is how she gets in to her little corner.  I don't know how she will fit in there when she gets bigger. (Hopefully she will grow out of this, by then..)  I don't mind if she goes back there if I am sitting right there, crocheting (and can keep an eye on her & make sure she isn't chewing on the couch!).  But if I'm not in there, I have to block the "hole". My husband keeps trying to keep her out of her "spots", all the time. (She goes in them to "hide", she is afraid of everything..) He wants to break her of it. I guess that's a good thing. I don't know. I'm tired of trying to over-think everything.  lol...

Another Puppy Picture..

Aaaaaawww... Look at that cute face!!   (Her ears weren't totally plastered to her head in this picture.) She loves to just sit outside. (It's way too hot, too... I don't know how she can stand it. I give her ice cubes, but she doesn't even want them.)   She is a peculiar doggy.  She doesn't like many of her toys. No balls, or ropes, I knotted up a couple socks that had holes in them. Nope. She likes to steal the stinkiest socks off the floor in the bathroom. :P She likes sticks.  She likes to dig outside. Then, either lay in the hole she just dug, or roll in it. Strange behavior...   She is picky about her treats, too. (She's spoiled already...)  She likes Pupperoni. But acts like Beggin' Strips are below her. She'll turn her head as if she's saying "Remove that putrid stench from my royal snout".  (lol)  She kind of reminds me of our old dog, Sunny (personality-wise). She doesn't look anything like her, but... She acts a lot like her...  I also bought her a Pigs' Ear the other day (I wanted to get a bully stick, but they cost $3.75-what a rip off, I know. And I only had $3.67 in my whole purse. Pigs Ears are only $1.50. So I got her one of those instead.) I brought it home to her (because she had already devoured the  two bully sticks I bought her).  She turned her head like that was the most disgusting thing she had ever smelled. (I happen to know that isn't the most disgusting thing she has "smelled"--or eaten... lol)  But then later when we went somewhere, we put her in her kennel (cage). My husband put the pig ear in there. When we got back home, the whole thing was GONE.  Hmmmm....    I was afraid she was going to be sick, after eating that whole thing. But so far, she hasn't..     She has certain spots she likes to go to in the house. My husband keeps trying to keep her out of them. One of the spots is a corner, in between two couches. She goes straight from her kennel, or from outside; to the corner. Or she'll try to go right back in her kennel. We hope she will come out of this scared-ness...   We finally heard her bark. She only barks when she gets scared out of her wits, though.  :/  So I don't know if that's a good thing or not...   We may have to get some kind of training for her.  Anyway~~ She is a good dog, though.  Right now she is under the computer desk chewing up a snotty kleenex (I don't know where she got that..) LOL  (See what I mean about the gross things she eats?... :P)  Oh and you might recognize this as my new blogger profile picture. :P  It was cuter than the last one I had up. So...  :D

And here is a picture of the afghan I started about a month ago. It's my third Pressed Flowers Afghan. I love this pattern.
I kind of was thinking maybe I could make my son one (an afghan~ maybe not necessarily this pattern..). For a graduation/house warming gift. (Because by the time I finish it he might be moving out, lol... :P It would probably take me another 3 years 9 months to finish..)   I was looking at other people's versions of the Navajo Afghan at Ravelry, and I found one in colors I think my son would like. (Hers is a graduation gift for her son, too, btw.)    Well it's time to go get my son from school already so I will end this for now..  I hope everyone has a nice weekend! :)   Oh and in case you were wondering what color I am going to do next, it's red. (You wouldn't have been able to sleep at night if I hadn't told you the next color, would you? hee hee)

More Crocheted Jewelry, and a Bear

I have been crocheting some lately..  It just seems like it's been a while. The only thing I have been working on lately is my Navajo Afghan (which is so close to being done~ yay!!). These are some more earrings I crocheted (some with beads), for a Pen Friend on Ravelry. She's already received them so I can post them here. (My blog posts show up on Ravelry, too. So...)

And two more beaded bracelets I finished. I did the light blue one on top, first. Then realized it was too small (I used a size 6 steel hook instead of the one I was supposed to... Sigh.) I don't know what I'm going to do with this one. It might fit a five year old girl. Maybe I'll give it to a little girl in church.  The darker blue one on bottom I sent to another Pen Friend on Ravelry. I think she has probably received it by now.

And, more crocheted bracelets..  These were in the Spring 2011 Interweave Crochet issue. "Forged Links" or something? (For teens..)  I thought I would make some to send to the girl(s) I send things to on Pine Ridge. For themselves, and to give to friends. I send things to a 16 (?) year old and (I think?) a 12 year old..

Seven each. I sent the 16 year olds' out this morning.  :)

And this is a bear I have had done forever. I forgot about it. It's for a Yahoo Group I am in; that I have been neglecting to send to. With no money, it's kinda hard... But, I figured; one bear wouldn't be too expensive. :)  It's the Becky's Teddy Bear pattern. I forgot I did start another one of these, too. It might take me another year to finish it, though. :/    Oh and I did do a couple finger puppets to send to the little boy (who is 5 or 6?) too. Try to even things out so they both get the same amount.. (The 12 or 13 year old lives in the same house as he does, but they are cousins I think?... The Grandma is raising them..)  <3
Well that's about all the news on this blog..  :P I hope everyone is having a nice week. <3   Oh did I mention I am on a diet? This morning when I got on the scale, it just said, "Mooooo"  :(

We Got a New Baby (Dog :P) ~~Adorableness Ahead..

This is when she was first brought home.  (She was so scared!..) She kept trying to go under the car or back into the car.  My husband drove four hours to go get her. And four hours back.  (She threw up in the car. She threw up two more times that first day, too.)  She was so scared; she would just lay under the computer table. Our 14 year old was complaining that he didn't want her because she wouldn't even walk. :(   We said to give her time, she is a baby dog, she was just taken away from her litter mates...  :/

Eon meeting our new puppy. :)  We named her Jetta, by the way..  Eli wanted to name her Jet, because she's "jet" black. I said I liked Jetta. He said that was okay...  So that's her name.

He doesn't know what to think about her..  (I think he secretly loves her...) Last night, they were all going to bed. He came over to the couch (she was laying there with me.) I said "Here's your baby." He said "She's not my baby (smiling). She's cute; but I don't like her attitude." I said "Just like you! You're cute, but I don't like your attitude."  (Ha ha- that was perfect!!..)  I got a smile out of him, at least.. :P

Adorable..  :D

In her "safe spot". (Under the computer table..) Portia liked it under there, too. :(

She is a Border Collie/Australian (Blue) Heeler mix. You can see her front legs look like Heeler markings. :)  She's 12 weeks old, and was the runt of the litter. The whole litter were "throw-aways". :(  Too bad we couldn't have gotten one of her sisters. We liked Page, too. It would be pandamoneum with two puppies, though. :0  There were three girls, and two boys in the litter.  Our puppy is still on Petfinder. (She is "Pinto".) There was Pebbles, too. And the two boys were Packer and Pauncho. They were all mean to her and wouldn't let her eat. :(  So they put her in with two (??) Otis dogs (from Milo & Otis). :P    (Pugs?)

Here she is when we first brought her home. She was looking at Eli, over the back of the couch, here..   We think she is warming up to us. She decided to do this last night~~ at 1 am. lol....  She was howling and whining..  So my husband took her out, and she decided to be a real puppy. (At one am.. Sigh :P)   She was running around and playing, for an hour. Then she went back to sleep.  She was running around playing today, too. Being super cute.  She is already stealing toys from Eons' room, chewing on the computer cords, shoes, anything she can get her little teeth on.   She loves ice cubes. And I got her a "Bully Stick".  I asked the guy in the local "pet" store for a chew toy that wouldn't splinter in her throat. He said Pig Ears or Bully Sticks.  I have heard things about Pig Ears making dogs aggressive. (Maybe it was just the dog?...)  I don't know if Bully Sticks do the same thing or not.  So far she hasn't acted aggressive.

Thank you everyone for your comments about Portia. We still are heart broken over her. :(   We aren't letting this puppy out of our sight.

Portia

Portia was hit by a car last night. Actually, she was hit by three or four cars.  My husband and son were out there, by the road. My husband was shining a light trying to get people to stop. Not one person stopped. They just kept running her over.  Our hearts are broken...

It's Been a Year...

... since we got Mia!!! <3  Here she is today... :P  I took about 30 pictures of her, trying to get one of her being still. (That'll be the day..)  I actually did get a couple more later.  She was being pretty still, because she was in a shoebox out here; and all the hamsters are deathly afraid of the dog. They can see/ or sense (or smell?) her, and just lay almost completely still. Or move very slowly. It was so funny (well, not that day, but later on it was funny), the first day we brought her home. It kind of freaked me out a little. They would not move, for hours. When I tried picking Mia up, she was like a limp, dead rat.  :(      I had to go get her a new water bottle today because I would fill her water bottle up and the next day it would be empty. She had chewed holes in it. I figured, it lasted a year...  I got her some chewy cheese "stones" (?) too. Maybe it will keep her from chewing on her water bottle. (They do need to chew on something, I guess..)
We <3 you, Mia :D

Crocheted Jewelry

I have been in the mood to crochet jewelry lately..  Well, for a while now.  This is Mimi's Summer Crochet Band. I love it! I want to make one for myself..

Used a button for the closure. I hope it fits the girl I am sending it to. I have skinny wrists. :/  (I know she is bigger than me...)

Here is another bracelet I tried this weekend. (And finished.)  The Crochet Beaded Bracelet

I am sending this one to another little girl on Pine Ridge. (I think she is 12 or 13?...)  I don't know if this is too "old" for her?..

And some earrings I have also been making. I think I made the earrings first. Then Mimi's band, then the beaded bracelet/band, then more earrings.. :P  I have made two of each of these colors (grey w/a a silver thread, and pink variegated).  I thought to make up some little cards to put the earrings on.  To send as gifts. (I kept the first pair of silver ones I made. I actually finished the second earring sitting in the car, waiting until 9 o'clock so I could go in~~ I wore them to "school" on Friday. :P For my volunteer job..)  My husband was actually impressed I made these! Well, I showed them to him and he said something like "Where'd you get those?" "I made them." "You made them?"  He probably is just happy now I can crochet jewelry, he won't have to spend money on me buying any more... Hee Hee ;P  (I am not really into jewelry that much, anyway..)

This is a green pair w/ beads I made. Eon confiscated these to give to his teacher. (Sheesh..) :P  Anyway, these earrings are the Dainty Earrings.  I also like these Crochet Flower Earrings.

Remember This?!...

It's been a while...  I should call this the Well Traveled Afghan..  :P  I started this when we lived in Colorado. Then pulled it out off and on (not very often, though.. But somehow I've gotten this far); from Colorado to Las Vegas, to here...  I started it August 12th, 2007~ for the Smoke Signals CAL.  (Only almost four years ago...) My husband has been bugging me lately, "When are you going to finish my afghan?". Soooo....  I've been trying to work on it. I laid it on my son's bed to see about how much farther I have to go on it. (Ugh...)  About 28 more inches, at least.  (Sigh...)  Well at least I am more than half way done with it, anyway...  Sc's take forever.  And I have to count every single stitch to make sure I didn't put the long dc in the wrong spot. (I have done that a couple times before and had to rip out a bunch of rows. So I make sure I count each time I finish a row.)  Maybe I will finish it before August 12th, 2011. I'm actually hoping to finish it before our wedding anniversary. So I can give him an afghan on July 20th, in the blazing summer heat. :P

I (don't ask me why!!!?) started another afghan, too. This is going to be a total scrap ghan this time. Whenever I feel like working on it. Whatever scrap color I have enough of. Another Pressed Flowers one. I love that pattern.

Our Newest Family Member..

We got a dog!..  She's a Border Collie, "adult". She loves to play fetch, and loves kids. That's all we know. :)  We got her from the Animal Shelter today. Well, "I" got her from there.  ;)    She seems like she is going to be a really good dog. I haven't heard her bark once yet. My Dad's dog is like that, too. (He has a Border Collie, as well) I wonder if it's a Border Collie thing?    I thought we had decided on the name Portia (like the car~ although my husband says "You're spelling it wrong." I said, "No I'm not, you can spell it that way- it's pronounced the same way as the car.." Sheesh..) But I don't know if we are going to call her that for sure; or not...   :)

He Did It!...

He graduated!....

Our son Evan graduated from high school on March 11, 2011.   He was home schooled for all but (less than) half a year of ninth grade. But he ended up having to take the whole ninth grade over again.
Congratulations, Evan!!!
